March  Oasis / Roxette / Bravissimo  Boney M

Bravissimo is the big surprise here…I received the cd only 10 days before the charts were calculated..

                (just ask the Bosstones)

November  Republic
December  Garbage  Squirrel Nut Zippers / Cranberries / Wings

Closed out the year in a bang, and plenty of new music.  Garbage still has never had a bad album,

the Cranberries and Paul stayed their strong ground, and the SNZ Christmas album was

the big pleasant surprise this month.

2002

January  Blondie / Blur / Kinks
Another first – 3 winners and no runner ups.  They were all so close I had no choice, really…
February  Kinks  Blondie / Poe

Blondie really almost deserved another co-win for the second month in a row, but…well what can I say.

The Kinks are just a frikkin powerhouse these days

March  Blondie  Kinks / Tom Petty / Squirrel Nut Zippers
After 3 months, Blondie finally wins a solo gold.  And still going strong!
April  Kinks  Blondie / Wings

Just as the Kinks are virtually assured a long, uncontested dynasty at the top, I discover that I still havent

sampled HALF their catalogue!!  Note: this month the Kinks surpass the Beatles’ record of 12 Golds

May  Kinks  Badfinger / Blondie / Garbage / Roxette

Even though there was a barrage of new BMG recruits, Blondie stayed strong, and Garbage, Roxette,

and Kinks enjoyed mini revivals from back catalogues – particularly The Road and Garbage, 1st album)

this is the 3rd BMG sign up I think…A lot more cd’s to come out of this one!!!   J

June  Blondie  Kinks / Eminem / Queen

Just as the Who were about to start a mini revival, John Entiwistle died June 27, and the show I almost went to

June 28 was cancelled.   Queen are also enjoying a small revival, thanks to the record player I bought this month.

July  Kinks Blondie / Tom Petty / Beatles / Violent Femmes / Rolling Stones
August  Blondie / Weezer / Cars / Kinks  No Doubt / Garbage / The Who / Green Day

A new record set with number of awards this month.  BMG provided an absolute explosion, I think about 10 new cds

October  Republic  Blondie / Tom Petty
November  Tom Petty / Blur   Kinks / Blondie / Beatles / Republic / Garbage
The Last DJ Rips into the scene, even as Blur are making a strong comeback.
December  Blondie  Pink Floyd / Blur / Cranberries / Squirrel Nut Zippers
No Exit provides Blondie with their last strong push, exhausting their fresh cd supply, but capping an award winning year.

2003

January  Beck / Blondie / Beatles / Pink Floyd  Kinks / Radiohead / Tom Petty / Wings
February  Pink Floyd  Chicago soundtrack / Blondie
The Wall has been the sole reason for Pink’s success the past 3 months, its time to turn to the rest of their catalogue…

Blondie ends its run of 14 charts in a row, a new record.  Tatu from Jud for bday.
April  Beatles / Rolling Stones / Wings  Cranberries
May  Wings  Kinks / t.A.T.u / Tom Petty

Although I’ve owned the cd for a long time, Band on the Run made its big splash here, during the move to NY.

…Buying the Russian tatu debut reignited them on the charts…

The BMG package back from 8/2002 is just now starting to kick in, with the Kinks 80s stuff…

June  t.A.T.u  Mighty Mighty Bosstones / Smokey / Queen
Russian version of Tatu  revived them for another month.  Bosstones concert June 14.
