The Rating System
OK, so the rating system is basically stolen from George's Review site, and if he gripes about it I'll go and change it, but hey its more a compliment than a crime, right? I dont feel like re-inventing the wheel with my own rating system, (and believe me, Ive had several versions of it, since I was about 12), and besides, I kindof like his. In my opinion it works really well, and the sooner all of us 'music snobs' use the same universal rating system, the better we will understand each other. Thats my story anyway, and I'm sticking (stuck?) with it.
As for his ultra-long explanation of the ratings, I pretty much agree with it. At least, I can see where he's coming from, and I have no problem working with the 'ratings mold'. Mostly, I care about finding a solution to the problem of "A 10 rated Madonna album is nowhere near a 10 rated Beatles album", and this system takes care of that nicely. Also of course, the numbers ooze up and down based on what mood I'm feeling that day. A 12 rated album could be a 13 on a good day, or an 11 on a bad day. But generally, I'm happy with the ratings so far.
Lastly, since this review site has many contributors, each person's ratings are seperately listed. However, all the reviews are grouped in band order. i.e. they are simply listed one after each other under the band's general page.
